Dr. Sharmin Aktar is the Clinical Director of The Mind Remedy and a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist with over 8 years of experience in the mental health field. She has worked in public healthcare (NHS), private settings, schools and charities providing treatment to children, young adults, adults and couples.
Her therapeutic work involves an integrative approach whereby she combines different therapies to tailor the treatment to you – this could involve Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), etc. Her work focuses on the ‘here and now’ with an exploration of childhood experiences to uncover the roots of the psychological distress. Her therapeutic work is governed by Person-Centred Counselling, providing non-judgemental, empathetic and a genuine approach.
Dr. Sharmin often carries out assessments and reports. She has written letters and reports for Schools, Universities, The Council, and others. She is also able to offer Medico Legal Reports for legal cases.
